Torchwood: Week 9 Productions

It's week nine in the production of Torchwood, and the end of the second month of the shoot! However, there's still some three months of filming left to go so no time to wind down for the production team - as usual there was filming in progress by two or more units over the course of the week, both around Los Angeles (with scenes taking place at places like the beach and an old stadium) and on the Warner Bros studio backlot. Plus, a rather important birthday to celebrate ...

Cast highlighted this week included John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Mekhi Phifer, Ernie Hudson, Dichen Lachman and Alexa Havins - not to mention of course the silent majority of supporting actors, extras and stand-ins working on the production!

Eve Myles films in Venice Beach!

The Torchwood cast and crew have been working hard across the pond as production on Miracle Day continues!
Eve Myles was spotted in Venice Beach, California on Monday as she filmed scenes in role as Gwen Cooper, while the official production Twitter has revealed that Bill Pullman and Lauren Ambrose – guest starring as “convicted child killer” Oswald Danes and “sweet-talking PR genius” Jilly Kitzinger, respectively – were filming on a night shoot together at the weekend.
Meanwhile, various cast updates have also surfaced. David Youse, Maurice Webster, AJ. Tannen and Randa Walker will all be taking on smaller roles, and Jessica Mathews will be appearing as a News Anchor. Guy Ferland (The Vampire Diaries) and Gwyneth Horder-Payton (Grey’s Anatomy) have been confirmed as directors.

New picture of John Barrowman and Bill Pullman in LA

A new picture of John Barrowman with Miracle Day guest star Bill Pullman has appeared online.
The image was recently posted on Bill Pullman’s official website, and shows the two actors in costume as their respective roles, series protagonist Captain Jack Harkness and “former school teacher” and “convicted child killer” Oswald Danes.
Filming for Series 4 is ongoing in LA and South Wales.

John Fay discusses Torchwood: Miracle Day

Torchwood writer John Fay took part in a live web chat earlier this week, and discussed his work on the new series of the programme.

Fay, who wrote two episodes of 'Children of Earth', revealed that he has scripted Episode 9 of the ten-part 'Miracle Day': "How many eps? Just the one. Episode Nine of ten. I can tell you a lot of my ep is set in Wales, and has already been shot."

Answering a query regarding the tone of Series 4, the writer commented: "Russell and Julie Gardner remain in charge, so I think it'll still have the same basic tone. There are more American characters in it, so obviously it'll probably feel more American."
Torchwood: Miracle Day is currently in production and will be broadcast on BBC One and Starz in the Summer.
